Restarting a mixed season afresh...

The IPL has seen it all in the last one week, producing one nail-biter after another and showing us that a certain old man MS still possesses his “finishing” powers. In the meanwhile, CSK, KXIP and SRH have stamped their authority as the strongest teams this season, while RCB, MI and DD have shown otherwise. RR have displayed the potential to make it to the top 4. So where does that leave Ami KKR? Interestingly, the world seems to have forgotten that a certain KKR is still very much alive in the tournament, just about managing to make the top 4 as of today (based on a higher net run rate than RR).

It has been a truly mixed season for us thus far, as our 6 games have split our wins and losses equally. But one can’t help a KKR fan in me to get the feeling that our season has been mixed in more ways than one – DKs captaincy, the performance of our bowlers, the performance of our openers, our fielding, individual performances and more. How does that make me feel about our chances going forward? Do we truly have it in us this season to make the play-offs cut? My mind sheepishly says “I still don’t know”, while my heart screams out “Yes of course!”

So after a week-long break (where our team seemed busy in fulfilling advertiser and sponsor led commitments in addition to training, going by our instagram account), we finally take the park today against a badly wounded team in Delhi Daredevils. What concerns me is that after losing so many on the trot, I hope this game isn’t THAT game where they finally manage to pick up a win. It’s at the Kotla, so it’s advantage DD for sure. But it’s safe to assume that KKR are in a better mental space.

So what does the passionate KKR supporter in me want to see over the next 8 games we play?
  •         A settled team combination
  •          DK proving that he is indeed a good captain
  •           Build an image of a good fielding unit (No dropped catches please)
  •          More wins than losses – we cannot afford to spilt our remaining results equally because that would make it only 7 wins, which is not good enough to qualify

Let’s do this boys! Korbo Lorbo Jeetbo!
